Over recent years Kiama Council has taken an active role in the area of Community Services. This has been in response to a high population growth for the area and a greater demand from residents for Council to provide more services and facilities.
Council has been able to develop a wide range of programs to service different groups within the area by taking advantage of funding contributions available from Commonwealth and State Government sources. At the same time Council has undertaken progressive development of children's, youth, cultural, community, and neighbourhood facilities with its own funds. The Community Services provided by the Council include:
Social Planning - a broad community tool that is the basis for identifying and responding to varied social and community needs.
Children and Family Services - general Information for services for families and children.
Community Support - helps people to remain living at home for as long as possible.
Cultural Development - arts and broader community events, projects and resources.
Family History Centre - provides a world class genealogy service.
Library Services - information at your finger tips, and a centre for many community activities and services.
Youth Services - working with local youth to assist them with today's issues.
Community Directory - for all contributing clubs, associations, services and groups in the Kiama area.
Community Services Plans, Policy and Profiles - provide the community with information including Community Profiles and Social Plans.
