Economic Development Unit

Committed to business development in our region, the Economic Development Unit is the first port of call for anyone considering investing, doing business or hosting an event in the Kiama Municipality. 

Whether you are a start-up business, an established business looking to relocate, seeking to buy a business in the area, or just wanting advice on how to expand - we can help. 

Our unit can assist businesses with:

  • business and planning information and advice for preparing a Development Applications
  • selecting suitable business sites/properties 
  • government funding advice
  • hosting your conference or event in our municipality.

Development Assessment Unit

Before lodging your application, consider whether you need to consult our Development Assessment Unit (DAU), which provides a free service to people who are considering the following types of development within our municipality

  • dual occupancy
  • unit development
  • commercial development
  • industrial development
  • large scale development.

The DAU meets every Wednesday to discuss these types of development proposals. The service allows you to present your concept plans, and discuss and address any issues prior to lodging your development application.  To apply to attend a DAU session, you will need to complete the DAU meeting form.

Our Council 

Kiama Council has 9 Councillors, elected to a 4-year term. The next election will be in 2020. Our Mayor is elected by our Councillors.
