How we support your business

Our region’s vibrant business culture is supported by the Kiama and District Business Chamber and Kiama Municipal Council’s economic development team. The Kiama Small Business Forum provides free regular networking and training opportunities for local businesses. Local Kiama businesses can also access training from the Kiama Community College on how to utilise the internet to enhance sales, productivity, communication, staffing, reduce costs and enhance products and services.

Kiama Municipal Council's Economic Development team can help with business relocation, development approvals, business permits and background information.

If you are thinking about starting or moving your business to this area, consult the experts from Kiama Municipal Council, NSW Department of Industry and the Kiama and District Business Chamber. They can provide useful information about future opportunities which become available as our region grows and expands.

There is a range of programs in place to support and encourage investment and sustainable economic development in Kiama and across NSW.

Small Business Program

The AusIndustry website offers information to assist small business owners with preparing and managing their business, as well as programs and services to assist at different stages of the business lifecycle.

Regional Programs

Around two thirds of Australia's export earnings come from regional industries such as agriculture, tourism, retail, services and manufacturing. The Department of Regional Australia, Local Government, Arts and Sport has an informative website with details on regional programs that are currently being run and contacts that may be useful.

Programs To Help Exporters

Starting out as an exporter can be quite challenging. There are a lot of things to consider and sometimes you don't know where to start. NSW Department of Industry's Export from NSW provides you with an overview of what you need to consider when beginning as an exporter.

Industry Programs

NSW Department of Industry drives sustainable economic growth. Services comprise more than 80 per cent of industry output, highlighting the strength of the State's knowledge-based business services, ICT and creative industries. NSW Department of Industry's Industry Action Plans provide additional information regarding industry programs.

Investment Services

NSW Department of Industry offers step-by-step investment services to companies considering investing in the state. Their aim is to attract investment to NSW and support innovative, sustainable and globally competitive industries through strong technical knowledge and scientific capabilities.

Incentives and Grants

Our regional economy is stronger when bright ideas can take root as new businesses - and when those businesses are able to flourish and grow. But getting started and building your business often requires a helping hand.

Grants and other forms of assistance may be available to anyone from a sole trader to a large organisation, whether you want to start up or expand your business. Further information and additional programs can be found at business.gov.au and NSW Department of Industry.
