Heart Moves

Heart Moves is a program developed by the National Heart Foundation, NSW Health Department and the Hunter Area Health Service.

What is Heart Moves?

  • Heart Moves is a low to moderate exercise program suitable for anyone who hasn't done any exercise in a while.
  • You can start gently in a friendly atmosphere and exercise at your own pace.
  • Heart Moves programs are run by accredited fitness leaders specifically trained in managing low to moderate exercise programs.
  • The programs are open to everyone and are designed to be safe for people with cardiac or diabetic conditions.

How can I benefit from Heart Moves?

Regular exercise can:

  • lower blood pressure
  • improve cholesterol control
  • help manage weight
  • improve wellbeing and flexibility
  • increase bone density.

You can participate in Heart Moves and continue other physical activities such as:

  • walking
  • dancing
  • lawn bowls
  • golf
  • swimming

Classes may stop in some school holidays if there is not enough participants. The instructors will ask the class if they wish to continue or not.

You can join a Heart Moves program today!

Heart Moves is suitable for people who:

  • are concerned about exercising
  • have high blood pressure
  • are overweight
  • have diabetes
  • have a heart condition
  • have had heart surgery
  • have high cholesterol, or
  • want to continue exercising after rehabilitation.
