Instalments

Rate instalments fall due on the last day of August, November, February and May and must be paid on or before their due dates in order to avoid interest charges. Interest on overdue instalments is charged at the rate of 10% pa calculated daily.

Pensioners who receive a Pensioner Concession on their property may elect to pay rates other than by quarterly instalments. Interest accrues on overdue instalments but is waived in full, provided rates are paid fully by May 31 each year.

Should instalments remain unpaid, interest at 10% per annum calculated daily will be applicable.

Rate instalments may be paid:

  • in person at the Council Administration Building, 11 Manning Street, Kiama by cash, cheque, EFTPOS, or credit card
  • by mail to PO Box 75, Kiama NSW 2533
  • by BPAY. Call your bank, credit union or building society to make this payment from your cheque/savings account or credit card
  • credit card ie. Mastercard, Visa on 1300 885 590
  • by using our online service for rate payments, sundry debtor payments and effluent account payments
  • at any of Council's Agencies ie. Gainsborough Post Office, Minnamurra Newsagency, Jamberoo Post Office, Gerringong Newsagency or Gerroa General Store.

Pensioners rebates

A rebate of a maximum of $250 pa on a property which is the pensioner's sole or principal place of residence, applies to all pensioners who hold a Pensioner Concession Card. Pensioners who are granted a Concession Card between instalment periods are eligible to apply for a rebate on a pro rata basis for all ensuing instalment periods within the rating year.
