Community waste wise events

Jamberoo Folk Festival

Jamberoo Folk Festival has had a long history of being a “Waste Wise” event. A record of the strategies instituted by the Jamberoo Festival Committee in partnership with Resource NSW (in 2001) and Kiama Council in 2000 - 2004 have been documented in the Jamberoo Folk Festival 2004 Waste Survey (pdf 475 KB). It identifies successful strategies that can be used for large yearly events that involve food stalls and a committed volunteer base.

Kiama Council’s involvement with Clean Up Australia Day

One of Council’s roles is to protect and enhance the community’s Removing an abandoned car from the beautiful Hoddle Track environment and health. The Kiama Tidy Towns Committee, in conjunction with Kiama Municipal Council, assisted in the local co-ordination of the 2006 National Clean Up Australia Day Campaign.

This national enterprise encourages people to participate in cleaning up and removing rubbish and litter from our beaches, waterways, bushlands and other areas located throughout the Municipality.

Kiama Municipal Council and The Kiama Tidy Towns Committee sought the co-operation and participation of citizens, community groups, schools, businesses and government authorities in the Kiama Municipality to make the 2005 National Clean Up Australia Day Campaign an outstanding success.
