The Hillside Food Tree Project

Currently in progress, The Hillside Food Tree Project aims to demonstrate what edible plants will grow well in the backyards of homes in Kiama and the greater Illawarra area.

Examples of indigenous and other native plants recommended in several local guides will be included. These guides include the Illawarra Edible Urban Garden Guide and the Grow Local: Illawarra Native Garden Guide.

It is proposed that a Landcare group be set up to manage the long term maintenance and improvement of the site. People interested in becoming involved are encouraged to contact Council at council@kiama.nsw.gov.au.

The Hillside Food Tree Project has received $11,500 funding from the Illawarra Biodiversity and Local Food Strategy for Climate Change funded through the NSW Environment Trust.
