GO Organics – Kitchen to Compost Revolution is an exciting innovative new program for our household waste collection system.
The program will be trialled over a 12 month period and will enable residents to dispose of all their kitchen organic waste into the green waste bin which will then be converted into compost. The compost will be quality food for the soil, which will contribute to building the soil health of our parks and sporting field.
Residents of garbage Zone 5 (Kiama Downs, west of Riverside Drive) have been selected as the first residents to participate in this program, due to commence in 7 November 2012. It is proposed that the program will be phased in to all households across the municipality after the completion of the trial.

In the past few weeks and in the coming weeks the GO Organics team has placed a bin sticker on your green organics bin (to replace the hot stamped instructions that will be void once the trial begins). This will act as a reminder of what can and cannot be placed in the green lid orgnics bin.
You will also note there is a change of frequency of service to:
Through a partnership between Kiama Council and residents of Zone 5, this trial aims to engage communities to become part of the solution of reducing waste going to landfill.
