To ensure equity of access to Council's facilities and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait people living in Kiama LGA.
Providing information, advice and guidance both internally to the staff of Kiama Council and externally to the Aboriginal residents and external agencies on issues relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the Kiama LGA.
Main activities and tasks are as follows:
- Assist Council to identify needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait residents.
- Resource the Aboriginal Reference Group
- Develop policies and practices in response to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.
- Supporting meaningful engagement between Council and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live in our local Municipality
