Man in wheelchair boarding disability busKiama's Access Advisory Committee provides a forum for community and organisational representatives of people with a disability to work with Council to address accessibility in the municipality.

Objectives

To:

  • ensure services and facilities in the community are accessible to those with a disability 
  • encourage the establishment and maintenance of access to all existing public use buildings, services and facilities and to ensure their effective use by a person with a disability
  • promote an awareness of the needs of those with disabilities
  • ensure all development proposals in the community are provided with practical and relevant planning and design details.

Committee meetings 

The Committee meets bi-monthly at 10am on a Friday at Council's Chambers.

Councillor Kathy Rice is Chairman and representatives from Council's Road Safety, Development Assessment, Design & Development and Community & Cultural Services attend alongside community and organisational representatives.
