Household Bulky Waste Drop Off Event


Our annual Household Bulky Waste Drop Off Event is located at the Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Facility, 446 Riverside Drive, Minnamurra.  

The next event will be held on 7 - 15 September 2019.

Registrations will open in August 2019.

What you need to know

  • registrations are essential
  • to register, you must be a resident of the Kiama Municipality and pay the urban domestic waste management charge or the rural waste management charge
  • register your drop off day and time before 3pm the day prior
  • limited to one drop off per household
  • on the day, provide proof of residency such as a driver's licence, rates notice or utility bill
  • total quantity equal to a standard box trailer or standard ute (maximum 2m3). No trucks permitted.

Accepted items:

  • baby goods
  • cds, dvds, books
  • crockery and homewares
  • garden pots and equipment
  • indoor and outdoor furniture
  • luggage
  • paintings and frames
  • sporting goods
  • bicycles
  • toys
  • working electrical goods
  • mattresses (max two per household. This can be a mattress and base or two individual mattresses. These are accepted in addition to the quantity limit of 2m3)
  • computers and televisions
  • fluoro tubes and globes
  • metal drums (empty)
  • gas bottles and fire extinguishers
  • household and car batteries
  • ink cartridges
  • motor oil and other oils
  • paint
  • paper and cardboard
  • polystyrene no. 6
  • smoke detectors
  • textiles
  • white goods (fridge, microwave, washing machine)
  • wheelbarrows
  • x-rays.

Not accepted items:

  • asbestos
  • building/demolition waste
  • garden waste (unless fees paid)
  • household garbage and food scraps
  • pane/sheet glass and mirrors
  • toxic chemicals and hazardous waste
  • tyres
  • waste from commercial premises (shops or offices).
