Household Bulky Waste Drop Off Event


Our annual Household Bulky Waste Drop Off event takes place at the Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Facility, 446 Riverside Drive, Minnamurra.  

The next event will be held on 7 - 15 September 2019.

Registrations will open in August 2019.

Important information 

A waste limit of a standard box trailer or standard utility (maximum 2m3) applies. 

Bookings are limited to one drop off per household to enable us to monitor traffic and labour requirements.

No trucks permitted. No builders/demolition waste permitted.  (This relates to materials that have been removed or demolished).

To participate you must:

  • be a resident living at a property in our urban waste zones (1-10), or live at a rural property (waste zones 11 & 12) and currently pay the Rural Waste Management Charge
  • pre-book your drop off day and time before 3pm the day prior
  • only book one drop off spot per household
  • pre-sort materials that could be reused or recycled into categories (e.g. paper, steel, plastic items)
  • arrive on your pre-booked day and time only
  • provide proof on the day that you are a resident of the Kiama Municipality, such as driver's licence, rates notice or power/water bill.

What you can drop off

Items that are not accepted at kerbside such as:

  • timber/plastic pallets
  • household furniture
  • timber and plastic pallets
  • indoor and outdoor household furniture
  • toys, sporting goods, baby goods
  • e-waste (eg. TVs, computers, electrical appliances)
  • mattresses (limit 2 per household)
  • engines, car parts, motor oil
  • gas bottles, fire extinguishers, smoke detectors
  • white goods (fridges, microwaves etc.)
  • garden pots and equipment
  • cardboard and paper products
  • empty plastic and metal drums
  • blinds
  • clothing, blankets, towels, linen
  • carpets
  • polystyrene packaging
  • crockery
  • batteries (car, alkaline)
  • light globes
  • paints.
