More time for submissions on minimum lot sizes

Council has extended the public exhibition period for its proposal for minimum lot sizes for dual-occupancy and multi-dwelling housing.

The community now has until 4pm on Monday 17 June to provide submissions on the proposed changes.

Last year the NSW Government introduced changes to planning policies that will expand the range of housing that does not require consent from Council.

Complying development also does not require any notifications to adjoining property owners.

These included dual occupancies and some forms of medium density housing.

Council had serious concerns about these proposed new planning laws, and has responded by proposing the inclusion of some minimum lot size requirements for dual occupancies and medium density developments in the R2 and R3 zones.

These changes to our Local Environmental Plan would mean that dual occupancies and terrace housing can only occur in the R2 Low Density zone if the property is at least 600m2.

In the R3 Medium Density zone a minimum of 200m2 would be required for each dwelling associated with a dual occupancy, manor house or terrace development.
