International rugby league players Josh and Brett Morris are to join Mick Cronin, Rod Wishart and Shaun Timmins on Kiama’s Sporting Honour Roll.

Mayor Mark Honey said the former Kiama Knights players would be formally added to the Sporting Honour Roll at a ceremony at The Pavilion on Friday 3 August.

“It is a tribute to how much Josh and Brett have achieved from a very early stage in their rugby league careers, that they are still playing when added to the Honour Roll,” Councillor Honey said.

“The boys will be joining local league greats such as Mick Cronin, Rod Wishart and Shaun Timmins, rugby union royalty in Gary Grey and Brian Weir, surfer Sally Fitzgibbons and volleyball international Aidan Zingel.”

Councillor Honey said the Sporting Honour Roll ceremony was part of the 2018 Kiama Council Achievement Awards evening, which also includes:

  • Sports Award–for an individual who has achieved an outstanding performance (as a participant or administrator) in the field of sport.
  • Community Arts Award–for outstanding achievement or effort by an individual or group in the field of the arts.
  • Service to the Environment Award–for an individual or group that contributes to improving the environment within our community.

Kiama Council has extended the deadline for nominations for the these awards until Friday 13 July.

“We’ve had a number of responses from the community regards the awards and how to nominate someone.”

“So we’ve decided to provide a little more time for people to finish their nominations.”

Nomination forms are available from Council’s website:
