Mayor Mark Honey has launched Kiama Council’s Australia Day Awards for 2019, encouraging people to nominate someone they know.

“This is a close-knit community, a place people care about, a place where people care for each other, and a place where people contribute.”

“The local Australia Day Awards allow us to recognise those people that play a part, large or small, in our community,” Clr. Honey said.

The Australia Day Awards are for:

•           Australia Day Citizen Award

•           Australia Day Young Citizen Award

•           Australia Day Senior Citizen of the Year

•           Community Group of the Year

Nomination forms are available online at: www.kiama.nsw.gov.au/australiaday

Nominations must be submitted by 4.00pm, Friday 26 October.

The Awards will be presented at Council’s Australia Day celebrations, which are being held in Gerringong on Saturday, 26 January 2019.

The celebrations will include the traditional citizenship ceremony, as well as a range of music, food and activities.

“Council recently decided to have its main Australia Day celebrations in a different town each year.”

“Last year’s event at Jamberoo was a great success, and we’re already preparing for what is sure to be a great day in Gerringong.”
