Event changes due to COVID-19 precautions
Published on 23 July 2020
Kiama Council has cancelled the Second Hand Saturday planned for Saturday 5 September, as a COVID safety measure.
We decided to cancel this community event to ensure the safety of our many volunteers and staff who make Second Hand Saturday possible.
Many of our volunteers are elderly, and COVID poses a significantly higher danger to them, compared to younger members of our community.
The safety of our community in general, and our visitors, was also an important factor in cancelling the event.
While Second Hand Saturday has been cancelled, we are proceeding with our Household Bulky Waste Drop off from 12 to 20 September.
Online registrations for the Household Bulky Waste Drop off open 1 August.
The Local Government Regional NAIDOC Awards 2020 have also been postponed for COVID safety reasons.
The postponement of the Awards ceremony was to protect Elders and those in our Aboriginal communities with chronic health issues.
The organising committee will review the viability of re-opening the Awards early in 2021, with the aim of host the Awards ceremony in July 2021.
