Kiama Council is developing a Coastal Management Program (CMP) for the open coastal area of our LGA.

Having completed Stages 1 (scoping strategy) and 2 (technical studies), we are now embarking on Stage 3 which involves identifying and evaluating potential actions resulting from these studies.

As part of Stage 3 we are requesting community feedback on 17 proposed actions.

There are 2 options for providing feedback:

  • Online – we have been working with the NSW Government to provide a more interactive application, with an “ideas wall” where you can comment and ‘like’ or ‘dislike’ each of the proposed actions individually.

The consultation is open from Thursday 4 May to Friday 26 May.

    Have your say

  • In person – we are offering 2 drop-in sessions at The Pavillion Kiama, where you will be able to engage with Council staff directly to provide your feedback.

Please register to attend one of the below events:
    • Thursday 18 May, 5-7pm
    • Friday 19 May, 9-11am.

We want to ensure that each of the 17 proposed actions are practical, realistic, and affordable for Council, Government agencies, and our community to achieve.

Upon completion of the community consultation, Council will progress to Stage 4. You can read more about the CMP stages here.

The CMP is being prepared using the NSW Government Coastal Management framework and will meet the requirements of the Coastal Management Act 2016, the Resilience and Hazards State Environmental Planning Policy 2021 and the methodology prescribed by the NSW Coastal Management Manual.

The CMP is being developed with funding and technical assistance from the NSW Governments Coastal Management Program.
