Hindmarsh Park upgrade: have your say

Hindmarsh Park Kiama

Community consultation for Kiama Council’s upgrade of Hindmarsh Park has begun.

Council has received funding from the NSW Government’s Public Spaces Legacy Program to make improvements to the park.

The upgrade will include improvements to the overall amenity and safety of the park and connections to Black Beach Reserve.

The project will also include a significant upgrade to the playground to provide a welcoming social space to locals and visitors alike.

Stage 1 of community consultation for the Hindmarsh Park upgrade is now open.

In stage 1, we are seeking input about the activities, facilities and features people would like to see included in Hindmarsh Park.

The survey includes some simple structured questions as well as the opportunity for open-ended input.

Input from the survey will feed into the concept design.  The concept design is currently considering the following elements:

  • all-abilities playground/play area
  • improved pathways / linkage within and beyond the park borders, particularly connecting to Kiama Harbour foreshore
  • seating/tables
  • lighting upgrades
  • potential stage upgrade
  • enhancements of existing features/areas of importance in the park e.g., Memorial Arch, trees

To have your say in person, staff from our design consultant Civille will be available in the park at the following times:

  • Wednesday 22 December, 12pm to 2pm
  • Saturday 8 January, 3pm to 5pm
  • From Sunday 9 to Friday 14 January, roaming staff will be in the park at different times each day, to catch a range of different park users.

You can also have your say via the online survey link below.

Once this stage 1 public consolation is complete, results will be presented, and a recommendation will be made to Council in February or March 2022.
