Kerbside collection trial begins
Published on 01 July 2020
Kiama Council has begun the trial of our user-pays on-call kerbside collection service.
The on-call service allows residents to have their unwanted household items collected by our waste services team, for a subsidised fee.
You can have up to 1m3 or 100kg of household items collected for $85.
Simply call our Waste Services team on (02) 4237 5148 to book and pay.
Then put your items out at your bin collection point, by 6am on collection day.
Items must be able to be picked up safely by one person.
A full list of what can and can’t be collected is available on our website:

You can dispose of larger items such as mattresses and lounges at our Household Bulky Waste Drop Off events:

The new on-call collection service replaces the annual Kerbside Collection.
The change has been made for a number of reasons:
- Provide a more efficient collection service
- Improved safety for our Waste Services team
- Greater flexibility for residents
The introduction of a user fee is to reduce the overall cost of the collection service.
Council is subsidising the amount charged, which is significantly less than the cost per collection.
You can find all our waste services on our new website:
