Council Administration Building exterior

Kiama Council remains open for business but is encouraging the public to take advantage of our phone and online services due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation.

To minimise contact and the risk of contracting COVID or having to isolate, we have reduced the number of people in our offices, with staff working from home where possible.

Our essential services like waste collection, cleaning and maintenance are all continuing.

Our facilities that remain open with COVID-safe QR check-ins and mandatory masks for indoor areas include:

Council facilities currently closed to the public:

Australia Day events:

  • Our Australia Day awards event has been cancelled
  • Our Australia Day citizenship ceremony has been moved online
  • Our Australia Day barbeques, entertainment and helicopter flyover will still go ahead

While our customer service counter remains open to the public, we’re encouraging members of the community to interact with Council via phone or online where possible.

Payments can be made over the phone by calling our cashiers on (02) 4232 1105.

Our over-the-counter planning and development advice services have switched to online and phone meetings. Please refer to Council’s website for more information on our different development advice services and contact us to arrange a meeting via Zoom, Teams or phone.

To submit development applications (DAs), you can visit the NSW Planning Portal or email council@kiama.nsw.gov.au.

Don’t forget that all residents can still do the following online:

  • Pay your rates
  • Have your say – give your opinion on upcoming projects, strategies, policy reviews and more
  • News – see all the latest news from Kiama Council
  • Report it – report issues with waste, overgrown foliage, dangerous dogs
  • DA tracker – follow the progress of DAs in our system
  • Forms – download the latest application forms
  • Read announcements of emergency issues and closures
