NAIDOC Awards sponsorship
Published on 22 February 2023
Kiama Council encourages local businesses and services to get behind the 2023 Local Government Regional NAIDOC Awards (Saturday 29 July).
Applications for sponsorship will be accepted up until mid July. However, to be acknowledged on nominations material, applications need to be received by 24 March. For acknowledgment in promotional print collateral, applications need to be received by the end of May. For acknowledgment on the event program, applications need to be received by 30 June.
Mayor Neil Reilly said with Kiama hosting the awards this year, he’d love to see a strong showing by local businesses sponsoring this major event.
“The Local Government Regional NAIDOC Awards have established themselves as a major event on the calendar for the Illawarra and Shoalhaven,” Cr Reilly said.
“The Awards are supported by Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama and Shoalhaven councils, the NSW and Australian Government, but sponsorship from local business, service providers and other sources is critical.”
The awards ceremony attracts more than 200 members of the Aboriginal community, their Elders and other dignitaries, as well as members of the wider community, community services, government and corporate sector.
Cr Reilly said the event was not only a major celebration of the strengths and talents of our First Nations communities, but a major vehicle for advancing reconciliation.
“Our municipality has made great strides towards understanding and reconciliation in recent years, including a changing focus of Australia Day activities, as well as popular community events such as Sorry Day.”
“The progress we have made in a short amount of time is something we can all be proud of. I see getting behind the local NAIDOC Awards as another fantastic opportunity for meaningful action.”
The organising committee is offering platinum, gold, silver and bronze packages to suit a variety of sponsors.
The Local Government Regional NAIDOC Awards are a not-for-profit event with all funds going directly into the award night.
The support of sponsors ensures the continuation of this event, and helps maintains ticket prices at an affordable level, especially for our Aboriginal community.
The NAIDOC Awards are being held at The Pavilion, Kiama on Saturday 29 July.
