Old Bombo Quarry staircase
Published on 10 July 2020
We are inviting submissions on the staircase planned for the Old Bombo Quarry.
A development application is on public exhibition, which includes the design and other aspects of the project.
The staircase is intended to provide walkers exploring the Quarry a safe way to reach the nearby walking tracks and beach.
Walkers currently climb up the cliff, which is dangerous and destroys native vegetation.
The top of the staircase also provides an area for users to enjoy the amazing ocean views south towards Blowhole Point.
The design includes colours and textures that complement the iconic basalt cliffs and rock formations the site.
A staircase also has a channel for cyclists to wheel their bikes up the staircase.
Submissions can be made until 4pm Thursday 23 July 2020.
The NSW Government has provided $500,000 towards the project from its Restart NSW fund.
