Reopening our facilities

Kiama Council is preparing to reopen our facilities in line with NSW Government health orders.

CEO Jane Stroud said Kiama Leisure Centre and Kiama Library would both open Monday 11 October with limited services.

Our other facilities are being prepared and will open in stages over the next few weeks.

“Everyone at council is excited about being able to open our doors again and welcome our community back to our facilities,” Ms Stroud said.

“We’ve been busy getting our staff, buildings and services ready so they can safely open to the public,” Ms Stroud said.

“There’s a fair bit of work involved, so we’re going to reopen in stages, and we ask the community to please be patient as we get things ready and work through our health and safety plans.”  

From 11 October, the Leisure Centre’s gym will reopen and locals can book fitness classes, with morning child-minding available.

The Leisure Centre pool will not reopen yet, but please be assured we are working hard to get it ready for swimmers and visitors as soon as possible.

Our Library will be open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 10am to 1pm Saturday.

Blue Haven’s Aged Care Home will also be welcoming back visitors.

Our Kiama Coast Holiday Parks and The Pavilion are taking bookings from Monday.

On Monday 18 October our Administration Building customer services will reopen and SENTRAL Youth Services will resume their support services.

The Council meeting on Tuesday 19 October will be held in Chambers with members of the public able to attend following the 1 person per 4sqm indoors rule.

Our other facilities will reopen as government restrictions allow and safety measures are in place.

We have prepared a handy table listing all our facilities that are open/closed.

Council staff who have been working from home will have a staggered return to the workplace.

We ask our community for patience as we manage the process of reopening. We also ask that people respect the clearly signposted conditions of entry to our facilities, such as:  

  • Providing proof of vaccination status
  • Checking in with QR codes
  • Wearing face masks
