This project has been completed.
Works have been completed for the installation of the Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) System and the repair bridge piers. Council is currently awaiting on activation of the system and final approvals from Endeavour Energy.
Chloride contamination occurs when salt or salt water finds its way into reinforced concrete structures such as bridges, causing deterioration.
Council is using an Impressed Current Cathodic Protection (ICCP) system to protect the concrete piers from further chloride contamination.
ICCP systems use an electrical current to protect reinforced concrete by neutralising the chloride ions that cause the corrosion.
Council contracted Corrosion Control Engineers to design the ICCP system for the Crooked River Bridge.
RFK Engineering Services have installed the system and repaired the existing damage to the bridge.
Council has funded this project with support from the Australian Government through its Fixing Country Bridges grant fund.
