Landslip on Jamberoo Mountain Road - July 2020

Kiama Council is working with the NSW Government to repair and reopen Jamberoo Mountain Road before the end of the year.

Jamberoo Mountain Road was closed after flooding and a landslip severely damaged a section of the road above Misty Lane.

Council is working with NSW Public Works Advisory (PWA), which provides advice, planning, delivery and support services for critical infrastructure projects.

We’ve also appointed SLR Consulting to do more detailed geotechnical investigation and hydrological assessment, before designing a new retaining wall structure.

Once we have a design, we’ll be able to advertise for contractors to help with the reconstruction of the road.

Until this time, Jamberoo Mountain Road remains closed, with Macquarie Pass as an alternative route.

Local residents can also access their properties from Jamberoo up to Misty Lane and from Robertson to the Barren Grounds turnoff.

Council has applied for natural disaster funding from the NSW and Australian governments for the repairs.
