Community consultation for Kiama Council’s upgrade of Hindmarsh Park has begun.
Council has received funding from the NSW Government’s Public Spaces Legacy Program to make improvements to the park.
The upgrade will include improvements to the overall amenity and safety of the park and connections to Black Beach Reserve.
The project will also include a significant upgrade to the playground to provide a welcoming social space to locals and visitors alike.
Stage 1 of community consultation for the Hindmarsh Park upgrade is now open.
In this first stage, we are seeking input about the activities, facilities and features people would like to see included in Hindmarsh Park.
The survey includes some simple structured questions as well as the opportunity for open-ended input.
To have your say in person, staff from our design consultant Civille will be available in the park at the following times:
- 12noon-2pm Wednesday 22 December
- 3-5pm Saturday 8 January
- Between Sunday 9 and Friday 14 January, roaming staff will be in the park at different times each day, to catch a range of different park users.
What is the scope of the project?
The project includes Hindmarsh Park itself, as well as the link across Shoalhaven Street and through Black Beach Reserve, connecting to Kiama Harbour foreshore.
How can I speak to someone in person?
Our design consultants will be available in Hindmarsh Park to answer your questions about this project and hear your input and ideas in person.
Bring the whole family - we welcome all input.

Wednesday 22 December, 12pm to 2pm
Saturday 8 January, 3pm to 5pm
What will happen to my survey responses?
Once stage 1 of public consultation is complete, results will be presented, and a recommendation will be made to Council at its ordinary meeting in February or March 2022.
Then, we’ll use your feedback to help inform and guide the concept design being developed for the Hindmarsh Park upgrade.
Community updates will be provided on the concept design that has been developed for the park upgrade. We will inform the community and stakeholders of how their feedback has been incorporated into the concept designs.
