Membership terms and conditions

General information

Membership terms and conditions are subject to change at the discretion of Centre Management.

Members are asked to show their membership card to our reception staff, or scan their cards with scanners provided, before entering activities.

Any persons attempting to use another person’s membership may result in the cancellation, without refund, of the person’s membership.

Membership does not entitle free entry for specific events including and not limited to:

  • Swim Club
  • Swimming carnivals
  • Department of Education & Sport & Recreation Programs.

Membership does not include:

  • Learn to Swim
  • Gym for All gymnastics
  • BabyGym
  • KinderGym
  • Inflatable pool toy
  • Parties, and
  • Any third party affiliated programs.

During the year there may be times where facilities within our centre are unavailable due to bookings and carnivals.

Hall activities

Membership does not cover hall activities.

Hall activities are to be booked and paid for separately.

Pre-exercise questionnaire

Any person purchasing a membership must complete a pre-exercise questionnaire.

Members with health issues must produce a doctor’s clearance letter.

Students under 16 years of age must have their parent/guardian sign on their behalf. 

Concessions

A concession discount on classes only applies to classes that are not already discounted.

Swimwear discount

All members are entitled to 10% off all swimwear excluding accessories.

Aquatic membership terms

Membership includes locker hire and use of hire equipment (kickboards, aqua barbells, noodles).

No admission to spa for children under 5 years, or to sauna for children under 16 years.

Limited pool lane space during peak times through the week (5.30-7am and 3.30-6.30pm).

Bookings are essential for sauna, spa and aqua classes. Bookings will only be taken from 25 hours before the class. If you can't make the class, you must inform the Centre prior to the class starting.

All pool patrons must comply with our Compulsory swimwear policy.

Please shower before swimming, in particular after exercise, or use of the sauna.

Please use a towel to sit on when using the sauna.

Towels are mandatory when using the sauna (Must sit on towel).

Fitness membership terms

All Silver members must have their membership cards when using the gym and aerobics room. If you forget your card, you will be issued with a one-off entry receipt to be scanned upon entry into the gym or aerobics room.

Group fitness class participants please attend the start of each session, as warm-up is a necessary part of your activity.

Bookings are essential for all group fitness classes.

Group fitness class bookings will only be taken from 25 hours before the class. If you can't make the class, you must let us know before the class starts.

Children under 15 years must not participate in classes with weights or where equipment is used, such as Pump and Step.

Year 7 students and children aged between 13 and 16 years must be supervised by the Gym Supervisor or a responsible adult while using the gym equipment.

Children aged 16 years with a Gym License may use the gym unsupervised.

Gym License holders must show it at reception before entering.

Licenses are obtained from the Gym Supervisors on duty.

Fully enclosed joggers/sports shoes and a shirt must be worn at all times in the gym area.

You must use a towel during all aerobic and gym sessions.

Food may not be taken into the gym, aerobics, and hall areas.

Our child-minding service is available during morning classes.

Our child-minding service is available to all members and guests as children are not permitted in the gym and aerobic areas.

Parents/guardians must remain in our centre at all times if using our child minding services.

Family membership (Aquatic and Fitness only) terms

Includes parent(s), and all dependent children of same family up to 21 years of age, providing they are still a full-time student.

Family membership does not cover children under the age of 21 that work full-time.

All children over 16 years of age must show their full-time student card or concession card to remain on a family membership.

All dependants must be listed on the primary parent's membership application.

Listed dependants are the only people eligible to use the membership.

Any person attempting to use another person’s membership may result in the cancellation, without refund, of the person’s membership.

A 50% discount applies for family aquatic and family fitness members for primary schools rotation sports programs.

Off Peak Memberships (Aqua Not included)

  • Apply for 12-month memberships only
  • Off-peak memberships attract a 20% discount off the normal membership prices. The 20% discount rate does not apply to the childminding option of the membership
  • Facilities can only be utilised between 10am and 4pm each day. No entry allowed prior to 10am and patrons must leave the facility by 4pm.

 

Discount student membership terms

  • Applies to full-time students who reside in the Kiama Municipality
  • Applies to Aquatic, Fitness and Aquatic & Fitness memberships
  • A full-time student under 16 years of age must be accompanied by parent/guardian when signing up for a membership
  • A parent of a student under 16 years of age must provide photo identification with current 2533 or 2534 address, and a Medicare card with the student listed
  • Students 16 years and over must provide proof of full-time student status and current 2533 or 2534 address.

Membership transfers

If the holder of a membership moves out of the area, the membership may be transferred to another person with permission of management of Kiama Leisure Centre.

The transfer is organised by the holder of the membership.

Membership on hold

  • 12 month memberships may be placed on hold if a patron is away for more than 1 week in any one period of time
  • You must inform our Centre before the leave is taken
  • No membership will be extended after the fact
  • 12 month memberships are entitled to a maximum 60 day extension
  • Trial and 3-month upfront memberships are not entitled to any suspension
  • Upon receipt of a Doctor's certificate, and approval from management, a membership may be frozen due to illness or injury
  • Members should consult with their doctor prior to beginning an exercise program
  • Membership terms and conditions are subject to change upon the discretion of Centre Management.

Refunds

  • If membership is frozen due to illness or injury and is for a period longer than 6 months, membership can be cancelled and monies refunded on a pro-rata basis
  • All memberships (excluding 1 month memberships) include a 30-day cooling off period. In the event you are not satisfied or have a change in circumstances, and wish to cancel your membership you have up to 30 days from the purchase date to do so. A pro-rata refund will be issued from the date of the application. Applicants must notify the centre in writing to info@kiamalc.com.au.

Payment options

You can choose to make a:

  • 3 or 12 month upfront payment or
  • Monthly direct debit payments (available for 12-month memberships only).

Direct Debit terms and conditions:

  • An initial 1 month deposit is required at the time of sign up
  • Monthly debits will be deducted from your nominated account or credit card for a minimum of 3 months
  • An additional $10 administration fee is charged per membership for monthly debit payment option
  • A minimum 30 days notice is required in writing to info@kiamalc.com.au for direct debit membership cancellations. If less than 30 days notice is given a $50 early exit fee will be charged.
