Variations to development standards
Development standards are found in:
- State Environmental Planning Policies
- Local Environmental Plans.
They provide a framework of limitations for various aspects of development within an area including:
- height
- floor area
- lot size.
Every quarter, Council is required to report cases where determined Development Applications result in a variation to a development standard to the Department of Planning NSW.
A variation to a development standard may happen after a Development Application is assessed under the Kiama Local Environmental Plan (Part 4.6).
By reporting variations to development standards, it allows Council and the Department of Planning NSW to consider whether development standards are appropriate, or whether changes are needed.
Variations to developments standards are located on the Department of Planning's website.
