Completed Phase 3 - Exhibition

After community consultation in November 2018 and September 2019, Council developed a draft Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS) that set out:

  • a 20 year vision for land use in the local area
  • the special characteristics which contribute to local identify
  • share community values to be maintained and enhanced
  • how growth and change will be managed into the future

Phase Three, our statutory community exhibition phase was the last chance for our community to find their voice and help shape our community's future.

The draft LSPS was on public exhibition until the end of June with public submissions welcome during that time.

An online Kiama LSPS 2020 - Community Information Session was held on Wednesday 22 April to explain:

  • what is a Local Strategic Planning Statement?
  • what has been our journey so far?
  • what's in our Local Strategic Planning Statement?
    • how does it relate to other Council policies?
    • what's our vision?
    • how are we going to achieve our vision?
  • how to get involved.

Watch Council's Manager Strategic Planning, Ed Paterson, present our online session.

A number of questions were asked during the session.

You can find these questions and their answers on our LSPS Frequently Asked Questions page.

Further information on the LSPS can be obtained by phoning Ed Paterson on (02) 4332 0444 or council@kiama.nsw.gov.au

Submission to NSW Government

The next stage for our LSPS will be for Council to endorse the draft for submission to the NSW Government for approval.
