Stone walls

One of the main features of the Kiama District are the stone walls. Made by hand and covering many kilometres, the stone walls are still in use today and occassionally, new sections are built. Thomas Newing Snr. built most of the stone walls found in the district. According to Thomas Jnr., Thomas Newing laboured on continuously for more that half a century, working for eight hours a day, six days a week.

Brighton Hotel

The Brighton Hotel, Kiama. The Steam Packet Hotel was licensed in 1842 on this site, and in 1905 The Brighton was extended and incorporated the Steam Packet site into the renovations. The Brighton Hotel closed in 1980.
