Volunteer from home - Kiama Stories oral history project

Screen shot of Amplify Kiama Stories oral histories database - sepia photograph of Minnamurra River c. 1900 in the background Over the decades we have built a unique collection of recordings of memories and stories of long-time local residents about life in our area.

Amplify logo thumbnailAmplify is a new tool we're using that gives you the opportunity to listen to these stories and get involved by assisting to edit the automated electronic transcriptions and make them more accurate and searchable (as we all know, computers don't always get it right!). Do as little or as much as you like - every little bit helps.

We will continue to add to our recordings over the coming months, so there's plenty of work for willing volunteers. Click here for more information, or contact the library if you need help getting started.

Explore Kiama's Past

Canto 2.JPG

Travel back in time and Explore Kiama's Past with our digital collection of historic images, documents and oral histories from the Kiama local government area (including Minnamurra, Jamberoo, Gerringong, Gerroa and Foxground). Search via keyword, or explore via albums organised by subject.

We're constantly adding to and improving our Explore Kiama's Past collection. In particular, the information we have about our images and records is not always complete.  You can help connect the dots by sending us any additional information you have about our images or records - just fill in our online form.
