Aboriginal Liaison Officer

Aboriginal-Flag_1404212082418878214.pngKiama Council employs an Aboriginal Liaison Officer to assist in ensuring equity of access to Council's facilities and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait people living in Kiama local government area.

Providing information, advice and guidance both internally to the staff of Kiama Council, and externally to Aboriginal residents and external agencies on issues relevant to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Kiama, Council's Aboriginal Liaison Officer is available on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Main activities and tasks are as follows:

  • Assist Council to identify needs of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait residents.
  • Advise on policies and practices in response to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander issues.
  • Support meaningful engagement between Council and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who live in our local Municipality
