Cultural Grants

Kiama Council provides $20,000 each year to support the development and delivery of arts and cultural projects in the Kiama Municipality.

Applicants can apply for up to $3000 per project.

Council's Cultural Grants are always open and applications may be submitted at anytime.

However, closing dates for each submission period are:

  • Midnight 3rd Sunday in February.
    Successful projects receive funds in May.
  • Midnight 3rd Sunday in August.
    Successful projects receive funds in November.

Application process

Decisions on successful applications are binding.

No requests for reassessment will be accepted.

  1. Council receives applications
  2. Ineligible applications removed
  3. Kiama Cultural Board reviews applications
  4. Kiama Cultural Board makes recommendations to Council's Director of Environmental Services
  5. Director of Environmental Services reports to Council to seek final decision on successful recipients
  6. Successful and unsuccessful applicants are notified in writing.

Funding criteria

We use the following funding criteria to assess the merit of your project.

Does the project:

  • Support local artists in their development within the arts?
  • Stimulate opportunities for participation and positive community connections?
  • Improve community spirit and individual self-esteem and wellbeing?
  • Encourage participants to explore and pursue positive arts experiences?
  • Acknowledge and promote cultural diversity, i.e.:
    • cultural and linguistically diverse communities
    • young people
    • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders
    • older people
    • people with a disability, etc.
