Council has begun upgrading the public toilets at the Kiama Surf Life Saving Club (Surf Beach).

The upgrades, worth $100,000 include removing the existing toilets and showers and replacing them with completely new showers, toilets and change rooms.

The upgrades include installing a fully accessible toilet for those with disability.

The work requires the toilets to be closed to the public.

However, portable toilets have been provided in the interim.

The accessible toilet at the rear of the Surf Club will remain open.

The new amenities are expected to be open to the public in time for the summer school holidays.
