Kiama Council is proud to support a range of Australia Day activities across our municipality.

Thanks to Australia Day Community Event grant funding and Kiama Council, local organisations will be hosting barbecue breakfasts for everyone to enjoy.

Join the Jamberoo Red Cross and Jamberoo Rural Fire Service at Reid Park in Jamberoo from 8.30am, the Gerringong Lions Club at Gerringong Bowling Club car park from 7.30am, or the Kiama Downs Surf Club at their clubhouse from 7am. Pack a camp chair, picnic blanket and sunscreen, and join your community for a relaxed morning of connection and conversation. There will be family friendly activities at each venue for the community to enjoy.

Council will host a formal Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony at Gerringong Surf Club from 10am. Mayor Cameron McDonald will welcome and celebrate our newest Australian citizens in this special event. We look forward to seeing you as we come together to mark this important day.

This year our community will also be connecting to commemorate and remember the First Frontier Wars with a series of smoking ceremonies held simultaneously at Kiama Downs and Gerringong (times listed below). These ceremonies symbolise the smoke signals once sent along the East Coast to warn of the arrival of the tall ships of the First Fleet. In addition, Council is supporting Cultural Workshops, Biodegradable Wreath Making and First Nations Musicians.
