Artist's impression of staircase proposed for Old Bombo Quarry

The Bombo Quarry staircase is intended to provide walkers exploring the quarry with a safe way to reach the nearby walking tracks and beach.

Walkers currently climb up the cliff, which is dangerous and destroys native vegetation.

The top of the staircase will also provide an area for users to enjoy the amazing ocean views south towards Blowhole Point.

The design includes colours and textures that complement the iconic basalt cliffs and rock formations the site.

A staircase also has a channel for cyclists to wheel their bikes up the staircase.

The NSW Government has provided $500,000 towards the project from its Restart NSW fund.

A development application has been lodged with Council, and is currently being assessed.
