Community Recycling Centre and Minnamurra Waste and Recycling Depot

Our facility, located at 446 Riverside Drive, Minnamurra, is no longer a landfill, therefore only the following household problem waste material is accepted at this facility. This includes:

Community Recycling Centre

To dispose of household quantities (up to 20kg or 20L) of:

Gas bottles
Fire extinguishers
Paint
Motor and other oils
Fluoro globes and tubes
Batteries
Polystyrene (No. 6 only)
Metal
Smoke detectors
Computers
Televisions
Textile bins (refer below)
Ink cartridges
X-rays
Mixed recyclables.

We also accept green waste - charges apply.

What happens to the recycling?

Recycling collected in the kerbside bins is taken to Visy's Recycling Material Recovery Facility and Wastepaper in Smithfield, NSW. Take a look at the facility in action Visy Virtual Tour

Textile bins

We also have textile bins at this facility where you can drop off unwanted clothing, shoes and accessories (what you would pass on to a friend) and clothing past its use by date. All materials are collected by RRR Australia Pty Ltd, a local business, turning unwanted items into high quality recycled products such as outdoor mats and cushions.

Waste events

Council run events throughout the year, providing our community with the opportunity to recycle, repurpose and dispose of waste that can’t be removed in their bin service.

Some of these events include the:

Household bulky waste event – our award-winning event where residents can drop off their unwanted items to our facility.

Second hand Saturday – a MASSIVE car-boot sale, held in Kiama twice a year.

NSW EPA Chemical Clean Out Collection – held once a year, this free event allows residents to safely dispose of potentially hazardous household chemicals.
