Project goals

The main goals of this project are to:

  • Provide a secure, fenced space for dogs to roam off-leash
  • Create amenities that support both dogs and their owners, including benches, water stations, and waste disposal
  • Promote inclusivity, ensuring the park is welcoming to all community members
  • Enhance the quality of life for residents by providing a recreational space for social interactions

Expected community benefits

The Jamberoo FOLA is expected to deliver numerous benefits to the community, including:

  • Enhanced public safety through a controlled environment for off-leash activities
  • Opportunities for physical and social activity for both dogs and their owners
  • Strengthened community engagement through shared spaces
  • Improved mental health and well-being for pet owners and the broader community

Funding

  • Kiama Council: $69,400 (Developer Contribution Fund)
  • NSW Government: $75,600 (Local Small Commitments Allocation)

Update: February 2026

After considering input and feedback from the community, at its February Meeting, Council endorsed the design option of a fenced, small-dog off-leash area, alongside an unfenced off-leash area suitable for larger dogs.

The design emphasises nature and Council will work with local volunteer groups on options around the space - like bush regeneration or community garden spaces.

The completion date for this project is on track for mid-2026
