Using the library Support Us Volunteer

Kiama Libraries and Family History Centre

Volunteers are an important part of our library community.

Our volunteers help to make some of our services, such as the Family History Centre and Home Library, possible.

We have a variety of tasks on offer.

To help make voluntary work a satisfying experience, we aim to match volunteers' skills and interests with related library tasks.

Interested in volunteering? Complete our online form or come in and talk to us at the library.

Visitor Information Centre

Our Visitor Information Centre (VIC) currently has 13 volunteers that work fortnightly or monthly to supplement the paid staff. The volunteers' chief role is to meet-and-greet our visitors and keep our souvenir shop looking beautiful, however more complex tasks can be provided for those that have experience in other areas.

One of our VIC volunteers says: “I love Kiama and I enjoy helping people. Volunteering at the Visitor Information Centre is the perfect fit. The staff are great, and you always feel valued for your contribution.”

Kiama Council Volunteer Expo

Council hosts a Volunteer Expo in May (usually via a stall at Kiama Farmers' Market) that local volunteer organisations attend to meet interested community members and share opportunities for volunteering in and around the Kiama Municipality.
