Have Your Say - Sports Fields Masterplans
Published on 14 July 2025
Kiama Council wants everyone to have your say on the draft masterplans for two of our most popular sports and recreation precincts: the Kiama Sports Complex and South Werri Beach Reserve.
The draft masterplans are currently on exhibition with submissions closing on 5 August.
The final masterplans will lay out the future for these two important facilities, setting out the long-term designs, an important part in attracting the necessary government funding to carry out necessary upgrades.
Mayor Cameron McDonald said it was essential for as many people as possible to share their thoughts, questions or concerns.
“Our vision is for a healthy, sustainable and caring community and these two precincts have and will continue to play a big role in making that vision a reality,” Cr McDonald said.
“We’ve had lots of feedback, but there’s still time for make your voice heard, so these masterplans can deliver what our community wants.”
Cr McDonald said two further community pop ups in Gerringong and Kiama to answer questions and gather further feedback.
South Werri Reserve Masterplan
Gerringong Town Hall – Thursday 24 July (4-6pm)
The draft masterplan for the South Werri Reserve reflects the community’s desire to preserve as much native habitat as possible while creating more opportunities for recreation.
This includes an improved playground, picnic area, skate park and pumptrack, new basketball court, renewed tennis courts, seating, pathways, shade trees and vegetation.
Kiama Sports Complex Masterplan
Kiama Sports Complex – Saturday 26 July (9-11am)
The masterplan for the Kiama Sports Complex (including the Kiama Leisure Centre) is designed to address the need for significant upgrades to the playing surface, lighting, buildings and amenities, which are nearing the end of their lifespan.
It provides options for an integrated design with high-quality infrastructure and amenities, that enhance sport participation.
At this stage, Council has no allocated budget for the upgrades and will seek funding opportunities once the masterplans have been finalised and endorsed.
