The historic Kiama Showgrounds will undergo extensive repairs and refurbishments. 

The project includes:

• New sports field lighting suitable for night matches at the Showground   
• Removal and replacement of asbestos roofing
• Repair turf in high-wear areas on the playing surfaces of the Showground and Chittick Oval
• Refurbishing the cattle stables and cattle yards
• Installing subsoil drainage at the Showground and Chittick Oval
• Installing new mobile grand stand seating at the Showground
• Demolishing the dilapidated horse stables and replacing with yards
• New Showground fencing made from 98% recycled materials

Kiama Council has received $762,000 funding for this project: $27,000 from the NSW EPA through the Better Waste Recycling Fund, and $735,000 from the Department of Planning, Industry and Environment through the Crown Lands Showgrounds Stimulus Funding Program.  

Note: the completion date for this project was extended from May 2022 due to COVID lockdowns and weather conditions delaying work.
