Kiama Council celebrates Bondi2Berry Ride to Remember

Kiama Municipal Council is proud to announce the success of the Bondi2Berry Ride to Remember pit stop at Hindmarsh Park on Saturday. Despite the wet weather the event brought together riders, volunteers, and the local community in a vibrant show of support for dementia research.

More than 300 riders passed through Kiama as part of the 155km journey from Bondi Beach to Berry, marking the tenth anniversary of the Bondi2Berry Ride. The Kiama Pit Stop featured live music from the Kiama Blowhole Buskers, face painting, and community stalls, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Mayor Cameron McDonald praised the resilience and spirit of everyone involved:

“It was my absolute pleasure to welcome the Bondi2Berry riders to Kiama. Ten years is an extraordinary milestone — a decade of passion, commitment, and community spirit driving this remarkable event forward. Despite the rain, the energy was incredible, and it was inspiring to see so many people come together for such an important cause.”

The Mayor also acknowledged the impact of the ride:

“Bondi2Berry has raised nearly 2 million dollars for dementia research over the past decade. That represents real hope for families and loved ones affected by dementia across Australia. Kiama is proud to stand alongside organisers, researchers, and riders who are working tirelessly toward a world where we can better understand dementia and make a positive impact.”

Council extends its thanks to the Dementia Inclusive Kiama Group, Active Ageing Community, volunteers, and event organisers for their efforts in making the day a success.

The Bondi2Berry Ride aims to raise over $250,000 this year to fund two dementia research projects.
