Kiama Municipal Council and the Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group is currently developing its first-ever Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) as a formal commitment to strengthening relationships between First Nation peoples and the wider Community

Purpose of the RAP

To recognise and respect First Nations Cultures, Histories, and Contributions.

To promote equity, trust and inclusion within Council and the Community.

To provide a clear framework for taking practical steps towards Reconciliation.

Why it matters

The RAP will guide Kiama Municipal Council in building strong partnerships with local First Nation Communities. It supports Council’s role in closing the gap and fostering cultural understanding. It reflects a commitment to genuine, Community-led reconciliation efforts.

A well-developed RAP, shaped by Traditional Owners and local input, can lead to real and lasting change. Its success will depend on ongoing engagement, measurable outcomes, and accountability. The RAP is a key milestone in advancing Reconciliation across the Local Government Area, grounded in respect, action, and Community leadership.

Kiama Municipal Council would like to acknowledge Elder’s, Traditional Owners and Custodians with their continuing connections to Land, Waters, Sky, Culture and Community. We pay our respects to the Wodi Wodi people of the Dharawal Nation, and their Elders past, present and future.
