Local Roads Betterment

Kiama Council was successful in securing grant funding to undertake betterment projects on several local roads in our municipality.

Council thanks the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development for its funding support through the NSW Betterment Program - Infrastructure Betterment Fund (IBF).

Council also thanks the Office of Local Government for its support via a NSW Severe Weather and Flood Grant.

The breakdown of funding is $4.5m from DPIRD IBF and $400k from the Office of Local Government.

Underway

In the coming months, the following works will be continuing:

Jamberoo Mountain Road

  • Final re- line marking from barren grounds to bottom of hill (Oct)


Wallaby Hill Rd

  • Repair slope failure of appx 100m zone (Sept)
  • Repair and reseal upper sections of road (Sept)
  • New Guard Rail installation (Sept)


Foxground Rd

  • Upgrade both the lower and upper causeways to culvert crossings (Oct)
  • Repair existing concrete lined table drains (Oct)

 

To limit traffic flow impacts, works will be undertaken in short stages moving from road to road.

Updates on the exact time of each package of works on particular roads will be made in advance.

Completed works for this project 

Jamberoo Mountain Road

  • More than 1,000 metres of new concrete table drains
  • Major culvert widening near Barren Grounds
  • New kerb and guttering with slope stabilisation works
  • Asphalt repairs at around 30 locations
  • Guardrail upgrades at four locations
  • Three new maintenance pull-out bays
  • Signage upgrades at hairpins and major bends


Wallaby Hill Road

  • 1st stage of new drainage and pavement works completed


Foxground Road

  • Detailed design completed and contract issued for next package of works including causeways upgrades
  • Reduced grass/bushes encroachment impacting driver line of sight
  • Cleaned away vegetation debris on road surface
