Privacy Awareness Week

Kiama Municipal Council is a proud champion of Privacy Awareness Week (1 - 7 May) 2023.

This year’s theme is Back to Basics: Privacy foundations in NSW.

Everyone has a right to have their personal information protected and Council staff play a key role in safeguarding the personal information of the people we serve.

How we collect and what we do with people’s personal information is critical to creating a foundation of trust between citizens and government agencies.

Some privacy tips to consider during Privacy Awareness Week:

• Store personal documents such as passports, driving licences, pay slips, tax returns, bank statements and bills in a safe place.
• Be cautious of suspicious advertisements, share-buttons, posts and plug-ins.
• Regularly check your records to ensure your information is correct and up to date.
