Kiama Council would like to advise that the public exhibition period for the proposed Akuna St development (DA 10.2023.220.1) has been extended until 5pm, Monday 1 April 2024.

Director Planning, Environment and Communities Jessica Rippon said the exhibition period had been extended by an additional 17 days, taking the total exhibition period to 31 days (or 1 month).

“Given the significant public interest in this complex development it is considered reasonable to allow more time for our community to be informed,” Ms Rippon said.

“I encourage everyone to take this opportunity to review what is proposed for Akuna Street, and to find out first-hand what is planned.”

“The extension of time will help people with an interest in the project to better understand the details of the application and make well informed submissions.”

Given the value and scope of the development, the application will be assessed by the Southern Regional Planning Panel.

The Southern Regional Planning Panel is a group of experts appointed by the NSW Government and Kiama Council to determine regionally significant development applications.

The development application is for a multi storey, mixed use development and includes:

  • 344 basement car parking spaces
  • 24 retail premises
  • 2 supermarkets
  • 82 shop-top residential units

Further Information about the development is available via Council’s DA Tracker and submissions can also be made via Council’s website.
