Replacement class policy

A student enrolled in Swim School at Kiama Leisure Centre can access up to 5 replacement classes per year.

To be eligible for a replacement class, a parent or carer must notify of the child's absence prior to a class.

If an absence is not notified before a class, you will not be eligible to access a replacement class.

The accrued replacement class/es must be used within a current calendar year.

Accrued replacement classes will not be carried over into a new year.

Replacement class procedure (Swim School only)

  • After notifying your child’s absence, a replacement class will be applied to your child’s profile in our system for the current calendar year.
  • A replacement class can be accessed at any time throughout the year (within Swim School terms).
  • It is your responsibility to contact reception to arrange a replacement class.
  • Replacement classes are provided depending on availability, and we cannot guarantee that your child will be allocated a class with the same instructor.
  • If a replacement class is available for your child’s level, but it is not suitable for you, we will endeavour to assist you, but cannot guarantee an outcome.
  • Please be aware that replacement classes in the last week of a term may have limited vacancies.
  • Accrued replacement classes will not be carried over into a new calendar year.
  • Replacement classes are not available during School Holiday Intensives.
  • Replacement classes cannot be exchanged for cash or used as a credit towards term fees.
  • If you cancel your enrolment (providing two weeks' written notice), you will forfeit any accrued replacement classes.
  • If you cancel your enrolment and then re-enrol later within the same calendar year, any replacement classes that have already been used will be considered in your 5 per year limit. If you have already used 5 replacement classes in a previous term, you will not be eligible for more when you re-enrol.

Prolonged absences (all programs)

Prolonged absences or multiple absences are not eligible to receive more than 5 replacement classes in the current calendar year.

If your child has an injury or illness and is absent for two consecutive classes or more (a prolonged absence), the following procedure applies:

  • You must notify the Leisure Centre of the situation as soon as possible.
  • Provide a medical certificate within two weeks of the first lesson missed if you wish to receive a credit for the classes missed. The medical certificate must state the specific dates of your child’s injury or illness.
  • The medical certificate can be emailed to courses@kiamalc.com.au or given to reception staff.
  • A credit will only be provided when missed lessons are for consecutive weeks and the medical certificate states the specific dates missed.
