An Extraordinary Meeting of Kiama Council was held last night to endorse the Council’s response to a letter received last week from the Minister for Local Government, the Hon Wendy Tuckerman MP.

The Minister’s letter – Notice of intention to issue a performance improvement order under section 438A of the Local Government Act 1993 – was publicly tabled in an Extraordinary Meeting of Council on 13 October.

The response to the Minister’s letter, compiled by Kiama Council CEO Jane Stroud, can be read here: CEO-response-to-Minister-letter-issue-a-performance-improvement-order-20-October-2022.pdf(PDF, 288KB)

Council is now working through the additional requirements and receiving legal advice.

We will send our letter with supporting documents to Minister Tuckerman on Tuesday 25 October to meet the deadline of 14 days for a response.

All the documentation provided to the Minister will be tabled at our November Ordinary Meeting of Council.
