Residents living with disability, their support workers and carers, are encouraged to make their voice heard on Council’s services, programs and amenities.

Council is updating Kiama’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP), which helps us improve access and inclusion across our programs, services and infrastructure.

Mayor Neil Reilly said the current DIAP had led to significant achievements in allowing people with disability to fully participate in our community.

“We’ve seen a range of positive outcomes, from simple measures such as accessibility information in our visitor guide through to large-scale projects like upgrades to public toilets, sports change rooms, playgrounds and car parks,” Cr Reilly said.

“The DIAP has also influenced major planning initiatives such as the Kiama Local Strategic Planning Statement and Kiama Town Centre Study.”

Council will be holding community consultations to develop the new DIAP, which will cover the period from July 2022 to June 2026.

This includes face-to-face focus group sessions and an online survey.

Focus group sessions are now closed.
