A vacancy exists for a Community Representative to serve on the Gerroa Sand Quarry Community Consultative Committee.

The Gerroa Sand Quarry has been operated by Cleary Bros for approximately 60 years, and is currently approved to extract up to 80,000 tonnes of sand annually from the resource located at Beach Road, Gerroa.

The Committee meets six-monthly and provides a forum for open discussion between the quarry operator, the community, the council and other stakeholders on issues directly relating to the site’s operations, environmental performance and community relations, and to keep the community informed on these matters.

Applicants should outline relevant qualifications, experience and interests which would assist in the selection of the best applicant.

Applicants must be current residents or landowners within the Kiama or Shoalhaven local government areas; must demonstrate involvement in local community groups and/or activities; must have knowledge and awareness of the project and related issues of concern to the local community; must be able to represent and communicate the interests of the affected local community; and be willing to adhere to the Committee’s code of conduct.

The closing date for applications is 5pm November 28 2018 and these should be submitted to the Independent Chairperson at gerroa.ccc@gmail.com. All nominations will be submitted to the Department of Planning and Environment, who will appoint the successful applicant to the CCC.
